Happy birthday to our lagoon island: the year 2021 marks the 1600th anniversary of Venice

According to our millenarian tradition, the city of Venice was formally born on the 25^th of May 421. 1600 years later, Venice is getting ready for the celebration of its anniversary, a historical moment that holds great significance in light of past year’s events. The celebration will start on the 25^th of March 2021 with a series of events and exhibitions that will last for a whole year.

The city of Venice wants to take back its voice and the course of its history and to create the foundation for a new renaissance after a year of economic uncertainty. This a new beginning for the city of art, that had already suffered the consequences of the high tides and flooding of November 2019, the so-called Aqua Granda.
