VENETIA 1600 – Nascite e rinascite
The history of the city at Palazzo Ducale, a long-awaited exhibit
Venezia 1600 Nascite e rinascite, the open exhibit at Palazzo Ducale, is one of the main events of the busy program for the celebration of the 1600th birthday of the city and it also represents the highlight of the new and improved cultural offer of Venice. The exhibit will be open until the 25th of March 2022 (a symbolic date that was chosen to represent Venice’s birthday) to offer a new and unique perspective on the history of the Serenissima, showcasing various art pieces from the most prominent artists, architects, and writers of the lagoon throughout the whole millennium: portraits of Carpaccio, Tiziano, Tiepolo, Canaletto, Guardi and more, a selection of miniatures, sketches, fabrics, sculptures, pottery, models, glassware and everyday tools.
A more in-dept look will be reserved for the most iconic monuments of the city, like the church of San Giacomo di Rialto, the cathedral of San Marco, the Ponte di Rialto, the Fondaco dei Tedeschi, the Palazzo Ducale, the churches of the Redentore and of Santa Maria della Salute, the Gran Teatro la Fenice and the bell tower of San Marco, including the major museums and cultural institutions of the contemporary Venice.
